CG Classic Golf Tournament

From the Family and Friends of Seaman Aaron N. Redd, USCG

Please help us support the U.S. Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial Foundation

About Aaron:

Our 21-year-old son Aaron had a dream to be a Coast Guardsman. He wanted to save lives and be part of something bigger than himself. On June 28, 2016, he began that dream when he and his fellow Recruits set foot on the grounds of the Cape May Training Center in New Jersey. He was ready to serve his Country. Only a few days later, without warning or explanation, he collapsed on the training course. On July 6, with his family and new Coast Guard family by his bedside, Aaron passed away. By donating his heart through the Gift of Life Donor Program, Aaron was able to fulfill his purpose as a Coastie and save a life.

Aaron was larger than life. He was witty, fun loving, and smart; and we will miss him every moment of every day. His family and friends have experienced first-hand, the love and support of the Coast Guard family. From the moment Aaron was admitted to the hospital, until his final day on Earth, the Coast Guard stood guard over him. On August 19th, posthumously, Aaron became an honorary graduate of Delta Company 193 and is forever a U.S. Coast Guardsman. Today, he has an Eagle’s-eye view and stands guard over all those he loved.

The Charity:  Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial Foundation (CGEMF)

He has honored his family and friends. Now we are privileged to honor Aaron and 1500 of his shipmates who have lost their lives in the performance of duty by supporting the CGEMF [www.cgemf.org]. The memorial is planned for construction on the grounds of Training Center Cape May, NJ, the current birthplace of the Service’s enlisted corps. It is our goal to reach the $150,000 that the CGEMF still needs to build the memorial where Aaron’s name, along with his fallen shipmates, will be displayed forever. We Need Your Help!

The CG Classic Golf Tournament

Our sadness is beyond comprehension, so we are finding ways to uplift our own hearts and those of his family and friends who loved him by investing our energies into something truly meaningful, the first annual CG Classic. In cooperation with the Chief Petty Officers Association (CPOA) Alexandria Chapter and the CGEMF, we are hosting the CG Classic on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Potomac Shores Golf Club in Dumfries, VA. Join us for a great day of fun, friends and family. www.cgclassic.com
